With today marking my first year as Bid Administrator at Winning Tenders, it’s a great moment to reflect on the past 12 months. Coming from a content-writing background, the world of bidding was new to me, and I quickly realised there was a lot to learn in my initial weeks.
What I didn’t anticipate was how much I would learn and how much Winning Tenders would achieve in just one year! Although there have been many noteworthy moments, here are my highlights:
1. Witnessing Client Wins Month After Month
One of the first things I discovered about public sector bidding was its intense competitiveness. SMEs not only compete with much larger companies but also have to allocate limited resources – namely team members and time – to prepare bids.
I quickly understood why many small businesses choose to partner with bid management companies like Winning Tenders, as they benefit from expert support. What surprised me, though, was the number of wins we would go on to help our clients achieve.
Not a month goes by without us having the pleasure of informing some of our clients that their bids have been successful. The joy of letting them know they’ve secured a contract they might not have pursued on their own is very rewarding.
2. A Major Win
Speaking of wins, one of the standout achievements this year was our work with the Cardiff Dragons, Wales’ top netball team. We assisted them in securing a crucial spot in the new netball Superleague.
We guided them through the bidding process and effectively showcased their value, resulting in their inclusion as the only Welsh team in the league. This accomplishment secures their future in the sport.
This was a groundbreaking win for Winning Tenders and it was brilliant to see the process unfold from start to finish.
3. Supporting Freelancers
In my time as a content writer, I experienced the benefits and challenges of freelancing first hand. Often, freelancers are treated as outsiders, excluded from business updates and decisions.
Joining Winning Tenders, I was impressed by how well freelancers were integrated into the team. Freelancers at Winning Tenders are genuinely part of the team, contributing to a brilliant working environment.
I believe that if more businesses treated their self-employed team members this way, freelancing would become a more viable option across many industries.
This year at Winning Tenders has been fantastic—from learning about bidding and being part of a rapidly growing business to working with a wonderful team. I am eagerly anticipating what the next 12 months and beyond will bring.
