Chapple & Jenkins are Bristol-based wholesale suppliers of beverages, confectionery, crisps and a range of other goods. They employ over 60 people near Bristol. They operate from their impressive 33,000 sq ft warehouse at Kingswood, within easy reach of the M4 and M5, servicing clients across the South West, Wales and the Midlands.
Established in 2008, Chapple & Jenkins is run by two sets of brothers who, as they planned their expansion, looked for help with tenders. In 2011, they hoped to secure a place on the Welsh purchasing consortium framework as this would enable them to expand from providing seven councils with their goods to supplying numerous public sector authorities across Wales.
Chapple & Jenkins were aware of Winning Tenders and their reputation and decided to contact them for support. When Winning Tenders were successful with the Welsh purchasing consortium framework bid on their behalf, so began a long-standing, winning partnership between the two businesses.
Since the Welsh purchasing consortium framework win, Winning Tenders have presented Chapple & Jenkins with over 35 bid opportunities. For each tender, Chapple & Jenkins and Winning Tenders carry out a detailed bid / no bid process to decide whether or not they should pursue the opportunity. This has resulted in Chapple & Jenkins submitting bids for 16 tender opportunities and of these they have won 13. Projects have involved proposals for individual institutions, such as Bath and Birmingham Universities, as well as framework agreements, including the University Catering consortium ‘TUCO’ where they were placed in top position for the two Lots which they bid for.
Winning Tenders works with Chapple & Jenkins throughout the bid process in each case, with our team of writers providing support in the following areas:
The revenue growth we supported Chapple and Jenkins with has seen them move from their initial location to a larger unit as a stepping-stone to the very large warehouse they now have. Chapple & Jenkins have ambitious growth plans including new product ranges, more warehouse space and an expanded team. They are also looking at making their operations more sustainable and making best use of technology for the benefit of their customers.
“We enjoy working with Winning Tenders because, whilst we are good at what we do, they are experts in the tender process and that can be a nightmare unless you really know what you’re doing. And they certainly know how to win.”
Working with Winning Tenders has had a really positive impact on our expansion and geographical reach. The revenue growth they have helped us with has seen us move from our initial location, to a larger unit… to the very large warehouse which we now have.
